The Past and The Present
Photography as a hobby and still learning...
Started with a much more simpler Canon point and shoot camera, forgot the model name, but been using it for about a year. After a while I have a small budget to actually plan to get the Pentax Zoom point and shoot film camera, at that time the Zoom range at 120mm. In the process of deciding what to get, a friend of mine suggested to get a SLR, it's well within the budget, so I got my first SLR - Canon EOS 888, unfortunately that SLR body is almost fully auto, only allow you to decide the speed/time value and the rest will be taken care of by the system. At the same time, I read a lot on photography from books and magazines (my favourite is still the Practical Photography - now EOS Magazine)
After a thorough search on the net, reading the reviews and forums, then I decided to upgrade to Canon EOS 50, which have all the basic features of SLR that I needed. Few years after that I upgrade it to Canon EOS 30, which is actually the model that replace the EOS-50, it also have the Eye-control-focus feature, although I don't quite use it.
Then came the Digital World of Photography. I let it pass for a while the temptation to buy the Digital Camera, until found an ads online, a guy selling underground Minolta 7Hi camera, I have to sell my Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX Macro lense, and bought the Minolta 7Hi 5Megapixels digital camera. For the first time, I really enjoy taking photos without worried about the processing costs ! I even tried the Macro by attaching the 50mm lense in reverse position in-front of 7Hi, Thank to Mr.Mark Plonsky, and become a member of photo.net (my gallery at photo.net).
The news that Canon is coming out with an affordable Digital SLR was really change the Digital market, as before that the Digital SLR is almost beyond amaetur/hobbyist reach. Again, I sold the Minolta 7Hi and EOS-30 film camera to get my hand on the brand new Canon EOS 300D 6MP Digital SLR in the very first month it arrived at my place...
